A Meal from Asia

Last evening we invited some friends over for a meal from our part of Asia. We tried to make it as athentic as possible for them. For the first course, we made bortsch, a soup that we ate many times the last couple years. We only had bread on the table (no butter or jelly) and sour cream (to put into the soup). Hot tea was not served until the second course, which consisted of several different cabbage salads and plof (a rice dish which I made with beef chunks). For dessert, we served the traditional pancakes. Our guests enjoyed trying them with ice cream, chocolate sauce, peanuts, sweetened condensed milk, and sugar! They were all good sports and tried everything! I think they enjoyed it to, at least they said they did. :) It was fun to make some Asian food again, and even more enjoyable to eat it!
