Snow and Roses

Well, this past week we got the first 'real' snow fall of the winter! Tuesday morning, we woke-up with light snow showers that accumulated more and more as the day progressed. Then, Wednesday we looked out and noticed that we had gotten quite a bit of snow!

Well, for about a month now, David and I were planning on doing something special together for Valentine's day. 'Special' meaning, just the two of us. :) It is not very often that we go on a date together. (I think while we were in Asia, we managed 'to go out' once every 6 months.) So, we weren't about to let the snow stop our plans. (You might call us 'crazy', but I'd like to use the word, 'adventerous'.) My parents had volunteered to watch the girls (what a blessing)! We knew that the girls would be having fun, as they absolutely love going to Grandma and Grandma's house (as Aria says... she still can't say "Grandpa").

In the early afternoon, David and I ventured outdoors and went 'in town'. We had such a nice time together! What could be more romantic than sipping coffee together inside "Barns and Noble" watching the snow storm outside? We spent the afternoon finding good educational books for the girls. (We had gotten a gift certificate for Christmas, and decided it was time to use it!) There are so many fun workbooks that help teach children the shapes, colors, numbers, alphabet, etc. I am so looking forward to teaching our children. Of course, I know that our oldest is only 2, but it may be 3 or so years before we get back to the States, so we thought it would be good to take some books back with us. But my favorite book that we found is a piano book! It was just what I was looking for! How fun it will be to teach our children how to play the piano! I can hardly wait for all of this, although I am sure it will be a lot of work when the time comes.

We enjoyed a nice dinner (using another gift certificate) and headed back home along the snow-covered roads. I'm really glad that we decided to go despite the snow. It was just great to spend that time together. Thanks mom and dad for taking such good care of the girls... and for offering to do it! Oh, and David, thanks for being such a wonderful husband and for the beautiful roses!
