Early this morning, I could hear Aria crawling out of her bed. Yet, I decided not to acknowledge that she was awake, as I wanted to stay in bed a bit longer. My tactic didn't work. She came over to my side of the bed, took my hand in hers and began pulling me saying, "Mommy, come. I want yogurt."
After eating her beloved yogurt, Aria began walking around in circles (what she considers dancing). She made up her own tune and began singing these words...
"Hallelujah, Ashley, Bernice, Hallelujah, Mama, apple juice, Hallelujah." (For those of you who don't know, Ashley is one of her cousins in the States, and Bernice is the name of my sister's dog.)
We had a lovely breakfast with some of our friends. They spent about a year in the States, and so they speak fairly good English. Our conversations consisted of a mixture of English and German.
After nap time, the girls and I headed to the nearby playground. Nina absolutely loved the swing. She was laughing hysterically. Others couldn't help but join in. :)
This evening, David's mom volunteered to put the girls to bed so David and I could go to our family group's Wednesday evening meeting. As we were sitting in the meeting, I asked myself the question, "Are they speaking German? Why does it seem like I don't understand anything that is being said?" Some days it is just so hard for me to understand and speak! Today was one of those days.
Ater the evening meeting, David and I went on a mini-date. We walked to a nearby McDonalds for some ice cream. (In a couple of months, we will no longer be able to visit the golden arches... so we took advantage of the moment.) Realizing I was quite thirsty, I asked for some water. When she handed me the cup, I looked at it confused for a moment. Did I not ask for water? Why then did she give me Sprite? I thought, oh well, and took a sip... only to be reminded that it was water... carbonated water. That's mostly what they drink here.
Exactly two months from today we are planning on returning to Asia! :)
