Just some details...

I thought I’d just write a post, giving a little more ‘pregnancy’ details for those of you that may be of interest to. For those of you who have no interest in reading this, I won’t be offended one bit. (Actually, I won’t even know.)

During our first week here in T-land, we made the amazing discovery that we were being blessed with another child! It was a discovery that surprised and thrilled us at the same time. Yet, perhaps being in the first trimester and in a new place helped to make culture shock a little more ‘shocking’ for me. Somehow the food was just not in the least bit appealing and being a little more emotional than usual… well, it was interesting! I’m so thankful for David’s understanding and patience!

The first month or so here, I felt like I was just in survival mode. I felt like I had accomplished a lot during the day if my family went to bed with a full stomach and clean hands and faces! I did experience some nausea, but more than anything, I was just SO tired… ALL the time. If it wasn’t for the two little girls that needed attention, I might have been tempted to stay in bed all day long!

Yet, besides the nausea and exhaustion, I think one of the hardest things for me in the 1st trimester was the food cravings! I kept saying to David, “oh why can’t I ever be pregnant in my home country?” David’s response was, “because then you’d put on too much weight and we would be out of money!” There is definitely truth to David’s response. I craved everything from McDonald’s cheeseburgers to Papa John’s pizza, to a big juicy steak and baked potato. I even craved the cafeteria food I had for school lunches growing-up! But what I craved more than anything was the soup and salad bar at Hoss’ Steak House. (I know, it sounds silly, but it’s true.) I just wanted a big, green, leafy salad with all the yummy toppings. Well, poor David couldn’t even begin to find the food to satisfy my crazy cravings. I think one time when I was craving a lettuce salad, he went and got me a salad with cabbage and carrots. Well, to me, cabbage is definitely NOT the same thing as lettuce. But, I have to give David credit for trying! (No, we can’t find green lettuce here anywhere! They had it in U-U, although it was quite expensive… but it’s no where to be found here.)

But thankfully, the 1st trimester did past… along with the nausea, extreme exhaustion (I still get tired) and food cravings. Presently, we (I say ‘we’, including David and baby) are in the 20th week of this pregnancy… pretty much half way there! Overall, this pregnancy is going quickly for me. Besides the normal discomforts that pregnancy has to offer, I am feeling really well, of which we are so thankful. I’m thoroughly enjoying feeling our little one moving around inside, and am totally in awe again at the miracle of life! The girls are well aware that there is a baby in my stomach (as much as they can understand). They’ll often look at my growing stomach, smile, and say “baby”!

We aren’t exactly sure yet where this little one will make his/her first appearance. There are a couple of different options that we are thinking about… and of course we have our preference, but we want it to be what He wants for us. We would appreciate your thoughts for us in that decision, as well as for a healthy pregnancy and baby! Thanks!
