Well, we made it this far!
We are now in the capital of R-land! The trip here, although only a 2 1/2 hour flight, was quite exhausting. I won't go into a lot of details here, but we had some problems going through passport control when leaving Germany. But, the police officer totally had mercy on us, and we were soon on our way. Our poor little Nina was VERY sick as we traveled. I felt like the most terrible mom on earth, dragging my sick little two year old onto a plane! Then, in the midst of taking care of the kids and getting them ready to leave the plane, we accidentally left all of our passports on the plane! Can you believe it?!?!? As we were being shuttled by bus to our terminal, we realized it, and David quickly told the bus driver. She kindly went back to look for them for us. While we were waiting for our passports, we sat on a bench just inside the airport, right in front of passport control. It was a really wierd feeling, to realize that the only place on earth that we were legally allowed at that moment was right there on that bench! (We had visions of what it would be like living there!) We couldn't get in the country, or leave without our passports! Thankfully, after about an hour of waiting, our passports were back in our hands and we were on our way. We are SO thankful that everything was returned to us, and I don't think we'll be forgetting them again, no matter how distracted we are with our kids!
We finally made it to the guest apartment where we are staying, exhausted but in one piece! We didn't sleep well at all that night, as Nina was just plain miserable! The next morning, instead of going to get our papers translated, David took Nina to the German embassy, where they have a really good doctor. Several hours later, David and Nina returned with 3 different kinds of medicine... antibiotics for her ear infection, nose drops for her stuffy nose, and cough syrup for her cough/sore throat. By yesterday evening, she was already starting to feel better, and we all slept so much better last night! So, we will be giving her medicine for a week, and hopefully then she'll be all better. We are just so thankful we took her to the doctor, and that we had a doctor that we knew to take her to!
After returning from the doctors, David met with the translator, and bought our tickets for T-land. We are hoping that all of our papers will be translated, notarized, and ready to pick up this evening, and we are planning on leaving for T-land tomorrow evening! Thank-you so much for thinking about us, and we would continue to appreciate your thoughts as we continue on with this trip. Tomorrow (Thursday), we will be leaving late in the evening and flying to a nearby city. After staying there all day, we'll be flying to T-land Friday evening. I'm not really looking forward to this upcoming part of our trip, as we will be at the airport late in the evening, flying during the night, and in an airport with cement floors and wooden benches all day on Friday. Not the most ideal place for your kids to sleep! But, we know that we are not traveling alone, and that is a very comforting thought to us. Also, we are anxious to see our 'home' again! :)
I'll try to update again, whenever I can. Thanks for checking in on us!
