Micah's "new" legs!

Yesterday was a very exciting day for us, as Micah's cast was removed! Early in the morning, Aria and Nina went to David's aunt's to play, while David and I took Micah to the hospital. Micah and I ended up being there all day, as we had to wait for the right nurses and doctors to come and look at him, but we didn't mind. Micah got his legs back! :D

Micah wasn't all that thrilled about the loud saw and having to hold still, but he did a good job! Here, his cast was allready cut through, they just had to pry it open, and take it off!

Once the cast was taken off, they cut off all the soft cotton that Micah's legs were wrapped in. It was so exciting seeing his legs for the first time in 6 weeks!

Next, Micah was able to enjoy a warm bubble bath! His first in 6 weeks!

He didn't find it as exciting as we did though!

After he was all dry, the nurse rubbed lots of lotion on his legs. We were SO surprised at how well his legs looked! We thought they would be all red, with skin peeling and perhaps some sores. But no, they looked as if he had just been wearing pants all those weeks! We are so thankful for that!

Next, we got him dressed!

Here he is, wearing a onesie, diaper, and pants! :D

While we waited for the doctors to come and check his hips, he enjoyed some time on his belly, something he wasn't able to do in his cast. He loved it!

"This feels so good!"

Legs! When Aria saw him for the first time yesterday evening, she said, "mommy, Micah has new legs!"

Early in the afternoon, the doctor did an ultra sound of his hips, to see how well they had healed. We were so excited to see the improvement! His right hip is now considered normal, while his left hip is almost to that point! Yippee! He will not be needing a second cast! Rather, he was given a brace to wear in order to hold his hips in place while they continue healing. We are just so thankful that first of all, he was able to wear the cast and for how much it helped his hips, secondly, that his skin was totally fine, and thirdly, that the whole cast experience didn't affect his appetite and weight gaining at all! He has quite the chubby legs! We are so surprised at how heavy he is, even without the cast on! Thanks for all of your thoughts during these 6 weeks with the cast. The nurse was so surprised at how clean his cast looked, so that made all those many "diaper" changes seem worth it! :D We'd continue to appreciate your thoughts as his hips continue healing! Thank-you! :D
