We thoroughly enjoyed being 'home' in T-land for a week! When we walked back into our apartment, it was such a good feeling to be 'home'! Yet, at the same time, we were quite shocked at what we saw! No, the apartment had not been broken into, and nothing had been taken, of which we are thankful. It was just SO dirty! Not only were there cobwebs and such (which is to be expected after having no one living there for several months), but the walls, furniture, and well, everything was covered in coal! They use coal to heat the city during the cold winter months, and well, it goes everywhere! Since the windows in our apartment are not air tight, the coal comes right into the apartment. We even had coal in our bathtub, cupboards, closets, and fridge! I hadn't planned on spending the week cleaning, as we had so much else to do, so I didn't clean that much. I basically just worked on cleaning the things that were most important, such as the girls' toys, bathtub, and couch. When we return this summer, I will need to plan on spending several days, if not weeks, thoroughly cleaning the place. Yet, I'm not sure if it will come off of our wallpaper or couch. Oh well, we always thought our couch would look nice a shade darker. :)
Here are some pictures of our girls the morning after we got there. They had just been playing with their toys, and their hands got this dirty...

We are so thankful to our co-worker, David, for cleaning our windows and mopping our floors (twice!), but our feet still got so black when we walked around barefoot.
