It has been another busy, but good week. This week during our language sessions, we were doing our best to learn all the different titles given to family members, such as aunt, uncle, cousin, etc. Since family is extremely important to the Tuvans, they have a different name for each person depending on gender, if they are related through blood or marriage, and their age. For example, Aria would call all boy cousins older than her one name, all girl cousins older than her another, and all cousins younger than her another. It was quite confusing for us.
It has been quite cold this past week. Temperatures now reach -30 degrees C/ -22 degrees F. After being inside several days in a row, I decided that we needed some fresh air! So, I got all the kids bundled up and we ventured outside. Well, five minutes later we were back inside. It was just way too cold, especially for Micah. All the people who saw the kids just shook their heads, so I figured that meant they weren't supposed to be outside. Well, I guess it's now time for us to hibernate, as it is just going to get colder. :D We do our best to be creative indoors and to keep our kiddos from boredom and having 'cabin fever', but oh my... it can be interesting at times!!!

Here are some things the kids did this past week...
One morning this past week, the kids decided to make some 'magnet soup'. It is a lot of fun to make...

... but even more fun to eat!

The other day, Nina got her baby all dressed, put a bib on her and set her in Micah's high chair. She then proceeded to feed her baby, just like mommy feeds Micah. Very cute.

The other morning, the girls made these oranges. They put whole cloves in them, and then rolled them in a cinnamon/nutmeg mixture. They help our apartment smell a little more like Christmas. :D
Friday morning, we decided to go to the beach! We found the warmest place in our apartment (which thankfully, is in the children's room) and enjoyed several hours playing 'at the beach'. The girls put on tank-tops and shorts, spread out their towels, and played with 'sand' (rice). They had so much fun (I didn't even mind the clean-up)!

After he woke-up from his morning nap, little brother joined us at 'the beach' too .
Oh, and we are very excited, for this past week we found out that our co-workers have also received their three year visas!!! We are SO thankful and happy for them! We are looking forward to their return the end of January!

You're brave with the rice! We do that IN a box or really big tazik and over a sweepable floor. :-)
And you're so creative with keeping your children happy and busy!
You are wonderfully creative. I am inspired by your ideas for keeping the kids busy and entertained indoors. That's definately a skill you have been gifted with to help you in your work in T-land. =)
