Here’s a very brief summary of our week.

I couldn’t help but take these pictures of Micah after his bath one evening. He was just looking way too cute. :D (The white stuff on him is baby powder.)

As the outside temperatures warmed-up to around -25 degrees C during the day, the kids and I were able to go outside three times this past week! It was wonderful! Even though I didn’t enjoy the ‘bundling up’ part, it was fun seeing the girls having so much fun running around outside. They found a rock pile which was covered in snow, and made a little slide out of it. After being outside for about 20 minutes, we needed to come inside, as I didn’t want Micah to get too cold. Well, the girls would NOT want to come inside. So I found myself telling them that “if tomorrow is warm like today, we’ll come outside again”. I had to laugh to myself… “warm like today?” Today isn’t warm, it’s -25 degrees C! But I guess it just feels so much warmer after last week’s -45 C!

One morning this past week, we spent quite a bit of time playing ‘hospital’. The girls laid hand towels and pillowcases on the floor (these were the beds), and placed their ‘sick’ stuffed animals and doll babies on them. They had so much fun giving them medicine (Smarties), wrapping their broken arms and legs (in socks), and giving them shots (a nail file). They were quite the nurses!

Friday afternoon, I mixed up a batch of chocolate pudding, put some on a baking sheet, and let the kids ‘finger paint’ with it. I’m not too sure they did much finger painting though. They were too busy licking their fingers! At first, the girls were very careful not to get too dirty, but soon their hands, arms and face were covered with pudding. They thoroughly enjoyed this! I put Micah’s finger in the pudding, and at first, he wasn’t too sure about it. But after he tasted it, he kept putting his hands back into the pudding and then to his mouth. It was quite funny! After they were done ‘painting’, all three little ones got a nice, warm bubble bath. I thought it was a lot of fun too, even though I had to clean everything and everyone up! Thanks for the great ideas, Brenda! :D

Wednesday evening as I was getting supper ready, I thought to myself how wonderful it would be to have a nice green lettuce salad. Well, the very next day, David came home with three little flower pots of lettuce! I was SO surprised and thankful! Who would have thought that he would find lettuce in the middle of the winter here, when we can’t even find it during the summer?!?! I hadn’t even told David that I was hungry for some lettuce. It was just there at the store and so he bought some! More importantly, I hadn’t even asked Him for some lettuce, but He knew that I would like some, and so He provided some for us… in the middle of winter! He is just so wonderful and I felt very, very loved! So, we all enjoyed a big salad for supper that evening, and our bodies enjoyed the extra vitamins that we aren’t always able to get during the winter.

Thursday afternoon, one of the students from David’s English class called asking if she could come over. Of course! What fun to have some company, as David was at the office and still had lots to get done. Diana and her son came over and we had a nice time together. She asked me to show her how to cook or bake something, as she doesn’t really know how to do much in the kitchen. So, she helped me make a simple hamburger stew for supper and then I taught her how to make some cookies. While we were busy in the kitchen, the girls (and Micah too) enjoyed playing with “the little boy”, as they called him. I think Diana’s boy is so precious. He is super friendly and so cute. I couldn’t help but give him lots of hugs!

Saturday afternoon, David did something that he hasn’t done in a long time… ice skate! About a year ago, a new sports center was opened here in the city, actually not too far from where we live. So David and two of his teacher friends went skating together. David really enjoys spending time with them, and they seem to have so much fun together. We would like to go ice skating some time together as a family. I really enjoy watching David skate. He is really good at it, and he is one of those people who make ice skating look incredibly simple. I, on the other hand, make it look like the most difficult thing in the world! :D

Glad you are enjoying some "warm" weather! That would be a cold day here.

There have been several times lately that I wanted to comment and didn't get around to it. This time I actually will. :-)

Your son has to be the cutest baby in the world! I have never seen dimples like that.

I think of you often.

Micah is SO cute! Thanks for sharing the pics of him after his shower. :) I marvel at how much he looks like David.

You're such a good mom, Christy. You have great ideas for your kids to keep them entertained and for them to use their imaginations. I know it's not easy being cooped up in a small apartment in such cold for so long. You are doing a great job.

I just wanted you guys to know that I think about you a lot. Be encouraged, you are not alone. He is for you.

I've got a blog, also. I can't remember if I told you or not. It's www dot redeemedforhisglory dot blogspot dot com
Keep pressing on!

I guess I shouldn't complain about temperatures being in the 20s here :) So glad you can get out for a little bit and get some fresh air. Can't wait for spring here, so we can all run around outside without having to bundle up. Love the creative things you do with the kids to keep them entertained while being inside. They are so cute (love, love, love little Micah's dimples :)
