Time at the Lake with Friends

Yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, we went to a lake several hours away with several students from David's English class. We really enjoyed the time we spent with them, swimming, eating, talking, etc. We spent the night in tents, and came back late this afternoon. It was nice being able to spend some time with them, getting to know them better in a more relaxed setting. The lake was beautiful too!

The girls really enjoyed playing in the water with the floaties that their papa found for them. They would be shivering cold, but yet would say, "no, we aren't cold!"

What a cutie!

Micah is only one day older than this little girl. They got along really well and seemed to have fun together (although you can't really tell by Micah's face :D).

One of the students brought along three of his friends, all of which are musicians and play traditional Tuvan instruments in a group together. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing them singing and making music together. They even did some throat singing!

They made some hot tea over the fire, which they then added milk, sugar, and salt to.

Nina talking with "Uncle" Asis (as the kids call him) as they keep an eye on the tea.

We had a good time getting our picnic supper ready together.
Yummy! :)
It was kinda funny for us, as it definitely showed another cultural difference. As we were really enjoying our Shashlik (which is a Russian favorite of marinated and grilled pork), one of the guys said, "man, I would love to be eating some sheep meat instead of this!" They then all agreed that sheep meat is the best! :)
