I was at the hospital this morning so that the doctor could check and see how our little babies are doing. Both babies have grown well in the past 10 days and both have good heart tones, for which we are thankful! Yet, when the doctor checked the pulse in the umbilical cord of Baby #2, she became concerned. It appears that Baby #2 is not receiving as much blood as Baby #1. She explained that sometimes, when two babies share one placenta, one baby tends to take over and ends up receiving 2/3rds of the blood and nutrients, while the other baby only receives about 1/3. The doctor isn't positive that this is what is happening, but she wants to keep me under close observation. Because of this, she would like me to come to the hospital and stay there. While there, they will be checking the babies' heart tones 3-4 times a day, as well as the pulse through the umbilical cord. (Technology is really amazing!) If the pulse in Baby #2's umbilical cord gets better within the next couple of days, then I will be able to return home, going to the hospital once a day for a check-up. Yet, if the pulse continues to get worse, then our little girls will need to come early, most likely by C-section. Once I get checked-in to the hospital, I will be receiving a steriods shot which will help speed up the lung development of our babies, in case they would need to come early. It would be great if I could at least carry them until the end of this week, when I will be at 34 weeks.
We would appreciate your thoughts for the following:
- that our babies would continue to have good, strong heart tones, and that they would continue to grow and develop well
- that the pulse in Baby #2's umbilical cord would improve, and that Baby #2 would receive all the blood and nutrients that she needs, as well as Baby #1
- that our little ones would be able to stay inside a little while longer
- that if our babies need to come early, the delivery would go smoothly, and that the babies would be healthy and strong
- for David as he takes care of the kids in my absence... I'm going to miss them all!!!!
- for wisdom for the doctors to know the right thing to do.
- for peace for all of us during this time.
Thank-you so much for your thoughts! It's SO nice being able to come here and tell you what is going on in our lives at the present moment, knowing that you care and are thinking about us and our little babies. We love you all!
Don't know when I'll be able to update again... but I'll try to let you know what's going on. Now, I need to get all packed up and get to the hospital. :)

Thanks for taking the time for an update. We will surely be remembering you. I'm currently in Peter and Gabi's living room and David and Jesse are here too. Jesse's first thought was for David.
Definitely asking with you that Baby b will improve and that you will get to go home for the next month. At the same time glad that you are there and you are all in Good hands. ;)
