Bullet points

  • There are many reasons why I like Germany, but it's weather is definitely not one of those! So unlike T-land, a person can go days without seeing the sun here. And, as temperatures are hovering above freezing right now, and as it rains constantly (o.k. I guess that's a little exageration), it is the perfect weather right now for germs to spread like crazy!
  • Speaking of germs, our kids have been battling all kinds of things lately! They pick up things from kindergarten and other children whom they play with. The most recent thing we've been dealing with in our family is that yucky, ewy, discusting 'pink eye'. Micah had it really bad about a week ago, and just yesterday, Aria's eyes were all red. :( Aria also has been running a fever the past several days and has a nasty cough. Poor girl.
  • So, because our 3 older kids are not in the best of health right now, we have decided that it would be best if we did not bring our little Hanna home today. The nurses had told us before, that if any of our kids were sick, we should leave Hanna at the hospital, as preemies especially can catch sicknesses very quickly. We would not want to bring Hanna home only for her to get a fever and stop eating! Plus, we feel really bad bringing Hanna home and leaving Heidi at the hospital by herself. It will make things a little more trickier for me to visit Heidi at the hospital if I have Hanna to care for and feed as well at home. Yet, I'm SOOOO ready for my babies to come home!!! So, I guess we'll just wait and see how things turn out...
  • I am SOOOOOO ready to bring both of my babies home!!!! (Did I already mention that?)
  • This past week something happened, and Heidi has been eating like a pro! Just a week ago, it would take me at least an hour to nurse her and then give her the rest of her feeding by bottle. She would just take her good ol' time! :) But this past week, she has been nursing her whole required feeding amount totally from me... all in about 10 minutes! The nurses joke that she heard her twin sister can go home and she wants to come too! :) They thought about taking her feeding tube out, as she doesn't need it during the day at all. Yet, at night, she is often just so sleepy to eat at her 3:00 feeding, so they usually use her feeding tube then. Hopefully it can come out soon! Oh, and our little Heidi is also doing a good job putting on weight. Sunday morning, she weighed 1,970 grams... only 330 grams to go before they'll let her come home!
  • Hanna is all ready to come home! She is now her required weight of 2,300 grams and eats very well. She's even getting a little 'double chin'! I love her hair after she gets a bath... it sticks up all over! So cute!
  • We still don't have our Christmas tree up. We wanted to put it up a while ago, but just didn't get to it yet. Hopefully this weekend? Nina wants us to decorate it all in pink. :)

Sorry you didn't get to bring Hanna home yesterday. Wondered too how it would be taking care of both of them while they were in two different places. Will have to be thinking of that specifically, that Heidi catch up quickly and be able to come with Hanna as soon as the other kids are healthy. Maybe the end of the week. Love you lots and look forward to hearing that you are all home together!
I can imagine the weather too. I was done after a week in Novo, and don't know how people in England or MOW do it. Glad my home is in sunny B!
