We were recently given a wonderful book, "50 Science things to make and do" by Usborne. It is full of great little experiments and such for kids to do. Our kiddos really enjoy doing the different activities, and I really like that most of the items required for the projects are things which we have in our home already. We try to do at least one of the activities each week. So, today we made a "foaming monster" using the great combination of vinegar and baking soda.
We made a tail, arms, legs, teeth, and eyes for our monster. Then we filled it half-full with vinegar, added some dish soap and several drops of food coloring. This picture was taken right before we dropped in the teaspoon of baking soda wrapped in a tissue. (The kids couldn't wait to see what would happen!)
Everyone agreed that Micah could be the one to put in the tissue containing baking soda. Once he did, our little monster began foaming...
... and foaming,
