Happy Birthday, T-land!

Today was the beginning of a weekend-long celebration... the Republic's birthday, otherwise known as "Naadym". Not too far from our apartment, they were having quite a few different activities today, so we decided to go and be a part of it. It was just so good to be there and see all that was taking place! Wow! SOOO much Tuvan culture was around us everywhere! The main event today was horse races. We really enjoyed being with the people and would have stayed there all day...

... except for 5 little reasons, we were only able to stay a couple of hours. :)

Oh, and let's just say, that we were quite the entertainment for many! As we were walking to and from the car, SOOOO many heads would turn and so many eyes were watching us. It was a little embarrassing, actually, but I guess we do stick out. First of all, we aren't Tuvans (and the majority of people there were). Secondly, we have 5 little ones. And thirdly, we have twins. We would hear the Tuvan word for "twins" and "five" over and over again. While I was sitting on a blanket with the twins, people would just come up and stare at us. I wasn't exactly sure how to act. But, I'd just nod and say "Ekki" ('hello' in Tuvan).
