Fall Break

Aria is now on 'fall break'.  (I know, to my American friends, it sounds like she's in college or something!)  Here in Germany, students only have 6 weeks of summer vacation. Therefore, they have longer breaks throughout the school year.  So, the students now are on their 2-week fall break! I can't say that Aria is too excited about this... she really likes going to school!  Lots of her classmates are doing special things on their break, like going on a family vacation.  We are not able to do that, as David does not get a fall break from his school (and a family vacation right now with the ages our littles are at just would not be a vacation!). So, I'm trying to find special things to keep her and the others busy this week.

As we have yet to put pictures on our walls, I thought it would be fun if they each made their own painting for their room.  So, while papa was in his office studying, and Madelynn was in her bed sleeping, the kids and I piled in our van and went to the store. (Yes, we got lots of stares and turned quite a few  heads!) We returned with 3 small canvases and some acrylic paints. The older three then got to work painting (while I did my best to remain patient and unaware of the mess). They had fun and we now have 3 paintings to make the wall in their bedroom a bit more colorful.

Aria and Nina spent all afternoon playing outside with some of the neighbor kids today. Such a blessing that they can do that!

would love to see those paintings, the three oldest ones produced :-)! You are such a good mom with so many creative ideas!
