Valentine's Day

In years past, we have not done much (if anything) for Valentine's Day.  Yet, for some reason, I thought it would be fun to do something a bit extra special this year.  The kids always enjoy celebrating something.  :)

Valentine's Day is not as popular here as it is in the States.  There are no parties in school or Valentine cards, etc.  Remembering how much fun it was passing out Valentines to all my classmates, I thought it would be something the kids would enjoy as well.  The weekend before Valentine's Day, each child decorated a big envelope. They then taped it to their bedroom door, and this was considered their "mailbox".  Throughout the week, they then drew each other pictures, often attaching a piece of candy which I had made available to them. They had so much fun "sending" each other letters!

They also enjoyed opening all of their "mail" on Valentine's Day.

We had a special candlelight Valentine's dinner together as a family.  Everyone was excited and willing to help out decorate. It was lots of fun!

Happy (very much belated) Valentine's Day!
