A little update

It’s so hard to believe that in 2 weeks, we will once again be boarding an airplane and returning to Asia! We have many mixed feelings, which I guess is to be expected. On one side we are excited, feeling some-what adventurous, looking forward to having a ‘home’, and ready to get on with the work that He has called us to do! Yet on the other side, we dread saying ‘good-byes’ once again to family, are not looking forward to ‘up-rooting’ the kids again, and are full of thoughts such as, “what in the world are we doing?!?!” We are thankful that when anxious thoughts come, we can talk to Him about them, and that He totally understands!

As far as our paper work goes, we are almost ready! Our passports are all renewed with plenty of visa pages, our international driver’s licenses have also been renewed, plane tickets are bought, etc. We are just missing one very important item… our visas for Asia! We were told when we applied that we should be receiving the Letters of Invitation the end of May, and then we can take the LOIs to a nearby embassy and get the visas. We are still waiting for the LOIs. We hope that they will come this week! We would appreciate it a lot if you would keep this in your thoughts. Thanks!

We are almost all finished with our medical check-ups as well! We have been to the dentist, eye doctor, pediatrician, and several other doctors. (We want to be in the best health possible upon our return, as we don’t have the opportunity to visit these doctors while in Asia.) Aria is all caught up with her immunizations until she is 6 years old, and Nina has just one more to go until she is 6 as well. Yet, last week, our pediatrician recommended that the girls would be immunized for lime disease. Why? Well, where we will live, there are so many ticks, and lime disease is a very common problem. The immunization includes three different injections, given about a month apart, and keeps one resistant to lime disease for up to 4 years. We aren’t sure if we should go ahead with these immunizations or not. What to do???

Tomorrow (Monday) is a holiday here in Germany. It is in celebration of Pentecost. Everyone has off from work, and many attend their family groups in the morning. I’m not all too sure what we will be doing, but we had hoped to get a little head start on sorting and packing some stuff. It is our goal to take only 3 suitcases with us to Asia and send a couple of boxes later by mail. (‘Stuff’ can be such a burden, really.) We have found that the less we travel with, the easier it is. We definitely need wisdom in packing!

We appreciate you all! Thanks for checking-in on us! And thanks so much for all your thoughts! Have a great day! :D
