We are sure thankful for the single bed that belongs to this apartment! That way, we don’t have to buy a bed right away. We just bought two pillows, and put one girl at the head of the bed, and one at the bottom. It can take them a while to follow asleep, as you can probably imagine. There’s usually lots of giggling and talking. (They are definitely girls!) I think they really enjoy sleeping together, for the most part. Yet, they both move around quite a bit while sleeping, especially Aria. The other night, Nina woke-up crying, and as I went to her, I noticed that Aria had scooted down in the bed and her feet were right beside Nina. I couldn’t help but laugh as Nina, who was half asleep, pointed to Aria’s feet and in a frustrated, whiny voice said, “go, feet!”
The owners of our apartment bought new plastic windows for the kitchen and living room. Yesterday evening, the workers came to install them. It proved to be a l-o-n-g evening, as they noticed too late that the new living room window was way too small. They had already taken the old window out, and since it was already evening and it would not be safe for us to stay there overnight with no window, they tried to find another one at their store that would fit. Well, it proved to be a very long process, and we were enjoying the sound of drilling into brick at 11pm. Thankfully, around midnight everyone had left, and we could finally go to sleep. (During the “waiting for a new window” time, we were able to spend quite a bit of time talking to the owners of our apartment and enjoyed some tea with one of the workers. It was nice being able to get to know them a little bit better.)
This past Saturday, we found a 3 bedroom apartment (2 bedrooms and a living room) in really good condition that we have decided to rent after our time in this one is up. We are thrilled with the apartment, as it was just recently renovated and at a very good price. For us, it was like a big hug from Him! Yet, it’s a little ways from the center of the city, so it will be a little difficult getting around without a car, but hopefully it won’t be too bad.
Today, David made our first purchases for our new apartment (as it has absolutely no furniture… just a stove). He got a washing machine and refrigerator! It’s exciting being able to finally get some of our own things!
After I had made lunch today, I told Nina that it was time to eat. She quickly went into the living room where her big sister was, and said in German, “Aria, essen!” (meaning, “Aria, eat!”) Both girls are remembering their German quite well!
I’m thrilled with the discovery I made today: one can make a pie in a casserole dish!
