A Mouse Story

O.k. I wouldn’t consider myself one of those who is totally petrified of mice. If I’m in the living room and hear one scurrying around in the kitchen, it doesn’t bother me so much. As long as mice leave me alone, I’m o.k. with them sharing our apartment. BUT, when they begin to get a little too brave and begin crossing into my personal space, well, that’s another story!

Last evening as I was laying on our couch/bed almost ready to fall asleep, I happened to see David’s startled expression out of the corner of my eye. I knew right away what happened. I asked him if a mouse had just run behind the couch (where we are sleeping) and he shook his head yes. So, upon my request, poor David had to spend the next several minutes doing his best to scare the mouse away, and search our bed thoroughly to make sure that no mouse was present. (We did not find any mouse, but, perhaps I shouldn’t mention this, we did find mouse doo-doo under our pillows!!!)

Well, today as I was making our bed, I pulled back our cover, and couldn’t help but let out a little scream. There was a dead mouse in our bed!!! Of course, I quickly told David and he ‘took care of it’. (My only consolation through the whole ordeal was that the dead mouse was on David’s side of the bed, not mine!) We concluded that the mouse climbed in our bed last night, and David must have laid on it and killed it. (How he did not notice that he was laying on a mouse is beyond me!) We noticed that the dead mouse was a little smaller than the one we’ve seen running around, so obviously, there are ‘mice’ in our apartment, not just ‘a mouse’. I asked David if we could please get some mouse traps and set them all around the couch tonight. His response? “Why do we need mouse traps when we can just lay on them?” I didn’t find that too funny.

Hopefully this story does NOT have a continuation!
