Just thought she looked cute!David spent yesterday evening and a good part of this morning fixing our leaking toilet. We did not realize it was leaking until the people living below us came and told us. Here, their bathroom ceiling was getting all wet! He was finally able to get it fixed (oh, the joys of having a very old toilet… this is the second time that something has been wrong with it). This afternoon, he went to our neighbors living below us and told them that he had fixed the toilet. He apologized again (we felt terrible!), and they had a nice little chat. Hey, having a leaking toilet is one way to meet your neighbors, but I wouldn’t recommend it!
After having outside temperatures over 40 degrees C/100 degrees F last week, we have been enjoying a cooler couple of days. Yesterday, we actually wore long sleeves outside and some people were wearing jackets!
This afternoon I took the girls outside for a while. I was excited to see several children playing at the little play area. I thought, “yeah, now Aria can play with some of the kids”! When we arrived there, I told Aria that she could go and play with them. She just watched them a while, and then looked at me like she was about to cry. All she wanted me to do was hold her! I realized again that our children are still adjusting to being here. Sometimes I forget that, as they are doing a super job at accepting everything that comes their way. I was reminded that, even though they are small, it still is an adjustment. After a while the children moved to another place to play, and Aria and Nina began playing happily together. Oh well, we hope with time the girls will feel more comfortable and play with the other children. We definitely don’t want to push them.
Rocks make such great toys! You can do so many things with them… collect them, count them, make rock piles… what fun!
Empty yogurt containers are super fun to play in the dirt with and collect things in!
While Aria was collecting stones today, she kept saying, “this one’s ouchy”. The ‘ouchy’ stones were all the little pieces of glass laying everywhere. I was very happy to see that she is learning what she can and can not pick up! Even Nina was catching on too! She’d pick up a piece of glass and say, “ouchy?”
