We like to think that we live 'out in the country', although we really don't. There are no animals in sight, besides an occasional dog or cat. Plus, we aren't really that far from the center of the city (perhaps a 10 minute drive by car?). But, when you don't own a car of your own, it seems to take a lot longer than that to get some place. Yet, we are definitely enjoying seeing mountains and land from our windows!
