Snow! Snow!

While I was cleaning up after breakfast this morning, Aria came excitedly running into the kitchen and said, “snow, snow”! I wasn’t sure if I believed her, but as I pulled back our kitchen curtain, I saw that she was right! Sure enough, there was a light covering of snow on the ground! Well, the only thing the girls could think about was going outside and playing in the snow. So, I gave in and after the girls were dressed, we went outside and enjoyed the first snow of the year.

Aria and Nina absolutely loved it! Good thing, as I’m sure they will see a lot of it this winter! Nina kept saying, “cold, cold”. So, after about half an hour, I seduced them back inside with the promise of making them hot chocolate.

Well, nothing tastes quite as good as a cup of hot chocolate after being outside in the snow!
(Especially if you are a little kid who loves anything chocolate!)

After we were warmed up, I couldn’t resist, and played some Christmas music! (I know, it’s just a tad early, but where I grew-up, whenever we had the first snow of the winter, Christmas was just around the corner!) And, just because I thought the girls would enjoy it, we made some Christmas cookies! Well, I guess technically they are just sugar cookies, good for any time of the year, right? We just didn’t have any pumpkin cookie cutters. :D

Last evening, for some reason that we still aren’t sure of, our cold water was turned off. We are very thankful that we still had hot water, but that made things a little interesting today. Our hot water isn’t just warm… it is HOT! So, it made it a little difficult trying to wash hands or get a bath. (David put water in the tub this morning, but after getting tired of waiting for it to cool off, he left for the office. I gave the girls a bath in it late this afternoon, when it finally did cool off!) Also, we couldn’t flush our toilet… thankfully we had a bucket nearby we could use to pour water down the toilet! After spending a day without cold water, it really makes you realize how much you take for granted! Thankfully, the cold water came back on this evening while we were eating supper. Looking forward to getting a warm (not hot) bath tonight!

The last three days, I've felt very much 'under the weather'. I think about every five minutes I had to blow my nose. Yesterday was the worse. I just felt terrible! (I haven't felt that bad for a long time.) Thankfully, David came home a little earlier yesterday. So, my big belly and I crawled into bed, and David fed the girls supper and put them to bed. (Thanks David!) When I asked Aria what papa had given her for supper, she said, "apples with jelly"! I was a little confused, until David told me that he had given them apples with some honey on top. He said they ate a lot of apples! :D (They also had some potatoes with butter and salt, just so you don't think they ate only fruit.) My husband thinks honey is the best medicine for colds and such. So, he was making sure all of his 'girls' had their fair bit of honey yesterday. Hey, it must work... that and rest, because I felt so much better today! :D
Yesterday morning, the girls sat down and looked at a book together of Noah and the ark. Their conversation went something like this:
Nina (pointing to a picture of Noah): Opa! (the German word for Grandpa)
Aria: No, Nina. That’s Noah.
Nina: Noah???
Aria: Yes, Noah.
Nina: O.k.

(umm, you get the idea…)
