Just wanted to update a little bit about the past couple of days!
On Tuesday, we went back to see Micah's orthopedic specialist. (We are so thankful for this doctor! He is so nice and kind, not to mention being a very good doctor!) He had spent a long time on the phone with the head doctor at the hospital, discussing what would be the best treatment for Micah. To make a long story short, he thinks that Micah's hips can be healed just by using the brace. He does not think that it is necessary for Micah to be put into a cast... of which we are thankful! So, at this point, Micah will continue wearing the brace. We will then go back on the 19th, and Micah's hips will be checked. If they have improved at all, then we know that the brace is the best option for him. Yet, if they have gotten worse, then we know that we will need to put him in a cast.
We were so relieved to finally have come to a decision concerning the treatment for Micah's hips! We still have decisions to make concerning Russia, as Micah needs to be checked at least every 6 weeks by a good orthopedic specialist. Since we don't know of any in T-land, and since we want things to be consistent with his treatment, David and I would really like him to continue being checked by his present doctor. We definitely need wisdom in all of this!
For those of you who would like to learn more about hip dysplasi, click here. We are so very thankful that this was detected in Micah this early in his little life, as now is the best time to take care of it! A baby's bones grow the fastest during the first 3 months of his life, so now is the time where treatment can be the quickest.
Even though this is a very stressful time for us, we both really have peace. We are so thankful that we can cast all of our cares on Him and that He will take care of everything the way He sees is best. It's so wonderful that we aren't in control of what happens, but He is. We have so much to be thankful for!
Yesterday (Thursday), was the first day in a week that we haven't been to any doctors... so that was refreshing! :) (Well, actually David did go to the doctors to pick up the results from our AIDS tests. Thankfully, none of us has AIDS... not that we were really concerned. :D ) We all went for a little walk in the city, and it was so much fun spending time together as a family of 5! We are so very blessed! :D
Oh, and we received Micah's American passport and birth abroad certificate in the mail yesterday! So, our little Micah is now also considered American. :D (Wish it was that easy for David!)
