Sewing Project

Thanks to some very generous people, we (as a team) were able to do another project today for the psychiatric hospital with which we work. This hospital treats patients from three years of age and older. They have three separate departments: one for men, one for ladies, and one for children. This hospital has so many needs. David first visitted this hospital before we even moved here as a family, and right away thought that he would like to help them.

A big need that the hospital has right now is the provision of winter clothing for their patients. We had thought about providing them with clothes, but they suggested sewing machines instead. As part of the rehabilitation process, they would like to teach some of the ladies to sew. They in turn could sew the needed winter clothing for the other patients. Since the hospital wanted the old-fashioned hand-cranked sewing machines, as they would be easier for the patients to handle, David had to do quite a bit of searching. Thankfully, he was finally able to find four of these sewing machines in a nearby city, along with a new electric machine which is good for sewing through thicker materials.
The head doctor wanted to meet David's family, so all of us went this morning. It was great seeing their excitement and thankfullness as we presented them with the sewing machines, tables, and chairs. They were truly so grateful for our help, and we are so thankful we could help them in this practical way. I was thankful that I was finally able to see the hospital and meet some of the doctors. We really enjoyed our time with them this morning.
Here we are, posing with the doctors from the hospital, along with the sewing machines, tables, and chairs.

I just zoomed in on the last picture, so you could see the head doctor whom David works closely with. She is standing between Nina and myself (right behind Micah).
