Micah woke-up for an early breakfast around 5:00 this morning. After I had put him back in his crib with a full belly, I went into the kitchen to drink some water. As I was headed back to bed, I heard a really strange sound coming from our front door. It sounded like a really loud hissing sound. I debated about waking-up David, but finally decided to do so, as something just didn’t seem ‘quite right’. When we opened our front door, we noticed that our entry way (which we share with our next-door neighbors) was covered with water! David quickly got dressed, put some shoes on, and went to see where all the water was coming from.
We quickly realized that one of the pipes in the storage room, which we share with our neighbors, had busted and water was spraying everywhere. There were several inches of water on the floor. (Thankfully, my smart husband had put our plastic containers on the bottom of our little storage pile. So relieved those cardboard boxes were up top!)
David did his best to stop the water flow with tape, and then we woke-up our neighbors, asking them for phone numbers of someone to call. They were so glad that we had found the leak when we did. Since they were unable to reach anyone by phone, David and our neighbor did their best to patch the pipe so it would stop leaking. They then mopped up all the water as best as they could. All in all, it was a really great way to spend some time with our neighbors!
Our neighbors have a cat. In all the commotion of trying to mop up the water, the cat wondered into our apartment (which wasn’t the first time). Well, the sneaky little thing ran everywhere, and in the process of trying to get the cat out… all the kids woke-up. :(
So, we were all awake before 6am today. That produced some very, very tired and grumpy little kids (especially since they weren’t able to fall back to sleep)!
(We finally got a hold of someone, and they'll be coming tomorrow to fix the broken pipe.)
As David really enjoys politics (especially American politics), we did our best to catch some reporting of the presidential elections this morning. Let’s just say, we were disappointed at the outcome of those elections. Yet, we rest in knowing that ultimately, people are not in control… someone else is!
Thankfully, Micah seems to be a lot better and is back to his happy little self. Yet Nina’s poor little nose has been running non-stop all day, and is now a bright cherry red. (Oh, and Nina does not play sick well… at all!) Later this afternoon, David had to do some things in the center of the city, and he took Aria along with him. When they returned, David informed me that he thought Aria was also sick as she was not acting like herself. Sure enough, she was running a low fever.
So, since our kids are sick and extremely tired, they were all in their pajamas and ready for bed by 7 this evening. David and I are heading to bed soon too. (yawn) Good-night!
