A quiet week

Greetings from a ‘warmer’ place! It warmed-up this past week, and is now -20 degrees C/-4 degrees F. It feels super warm outside! Unfortunately, our little Micah has been running a fever this weekend, so we haven’t really been out to enjoy it yet. Hopefully it will stay warmer and we’ll be able to enjoy the outdoors again soon!

This past week, the kids and I did our best to have fun indoors… and we did have fun. (Thankfully, by his grace, I had a little more motivation this week!) I looked through all my books last weekend, and found some more fun things to do. One day, we made a “box town” with old boxes, newspaper, paint, and stickers. We set it up in a corner of our apartment, and the kids really enjoyed playing with it for several days.

Then one morning, we turned our living room into a forest. We had trees (chairs), a river (blanket), stones (sponges), snakes (scarves), and a high cliff (the coffee table). The girls put on their hats, put a little snack in their bags, and then went on a ‘hike’. They did their best to dodge the water, rocks and snakes! Once they reached the high cliff, they were able to sit and eat their snack. They loved it!

This week was a little quieter than some. David was at the office every day, studying and working on different projects. Saturday afternoon, he spent several hours with some friends playing chess. These two friends play chess professionally in competitions around R-land, so David wanted to see if he could beat them… he didn’t. :D They had a great time though.

I had a language lesson this past week, and it was good to finally ‘get back at it’. Right now, the students are busy studying and having exams. Also, my language helper’s little boy is in the hospital right now, so she is super busy right now. You could be thinking about her little 8 month boy. From what I understand, he has a bad case of bronchitis. Hopefully he’ll be better soon.

Our ‘sonny boy’ (as David calls him) turned 11 months this past week. He is thoroughly enjoying exploring our apartment, and I think he knows what’s in every nook and cranny about now. He really likes it when no one sees him, and he can sneak into our little toilet room and play with the toilet paper. It is not unusual for us to pull wads of wet toilet paper out of his mouth… gross! He also enjoys pulling the wallpaper off, so we really need to keep our eyes on him! Thankfully, we have some super glue! :D Interestingly enough, our little guy still has no teeth! I guess he’s not all that anxious about eating steak! We think his two front bottom teeth will pop through any day now, but we’re still waiting!

We had some more "Christmas" at our place this past week. My family had sent us a two packages for Christmas. One came on time, and the other just got here. Thank-you mom and dad and everyone! We are enjoying everything! Also, thank-you John and Kirsten for all the fun school stuff you sent for the kids! What a big help and encouragement! :D
