Lately, this has been Nina’s favorite question: “But why?”
Lately, this has been my favorite answer: “Because I said so!”
Tonight before going to bed, Aria told Him, “Thank-you that you love all the people. Thank-you that you love all the animals. You love all the fishies, the ones with big teeth, the giraffes, the lions, the zebras, the hippopotamuses, the trees, the cars, papa, Nina, Micah, and mama…”
Our kids fight. That includes Micah. He definitely does not appreciate it when his older sisters take a toy away from him or tell him that he’s not allowed to do something. The other morning, I heard Micah scream and then the next thing I knew, Nina was screaming. I run into the room to see how I could help out the situation, and here, I found Micah pulling Nina’s hair as hard as he could! I guess she had taken something away from him, and he did not like that one bit! Oh, and on other occasions, unable to reach hair, he has pulled off socks. He’s young, but he already knows how to make his sisters scream.
For some reason, both girls only wanted pigtails in their hair this week.

My heart smiles real big when I see our three kiddos having fun and enjoying each other. The other day, I put Micah in this box with some toys, and before I knew it, the girls were pushing him around the apartment. He thought it was the best!

And, despite all of our attempts to ‘discourage’ Micah from standing-up (as we want his hips to get even stronger before he begins walking), I found him like this Friday afternoon…

You could be thinking about our co-workers. They were planning on returning here sometime around the 25th of January. Yet, they just recently ran into some delays with their visa work for their return trip here. We are hoping with them that they will receive their visas quickly, within a couple of weeks, and will be able to join us here by mid-February. We are disappointed that we won’t be seeing them in a couple of weeks, like we had hoped. (We really miss them!) Yet, we are trusting that we will be together as a team soon. Thanks for thinking about them!
This past week, David and Asis moved all of our office furniture to our new office! It’s great to be able to have our office set-up now. Also, I am so thankful that all the office desks are now out of our apartment, where they were being stored. It feels like we have so much extra space now!
This has been a challenging week for me. I’m not exactly sure why, yet perhaps it’s partly due to the fact that the kids and I have been ‘stuck’ indoors for several weeks now. The creative part of my brain is running on empty, and lately, I just don’t know how to answer the question, “mommy, what can we do now?” The kids too are definitely experiencing ‘cabin fever’ as well. The other afternoon I decided that it was enough, and bundled them all up and went outside… where we stayed about a whole 5 minutes. It is just way too cold, especially for Micah. His eyes were watering, cheeks were bright red, and he was having trouble breathing. So, I guess for now, going outside isn’t an option. We will have to become a little more creative in that area.
In the center of the city, they put up a big Christmas tree and made several ice sculptures and slides for the new year. We really had hoped to go to see it on New Years eve, but since our kids were really sick, we were unable to. Today, we ventured out into the cold so the kids could see the tree and go down the slides. They really enjoyed it, it was just really, really cold. We didn't stay long, but it was long enough... we were all freezing! They really made it look nice though for the New Year. In a couple of weeks, we will be celebrating the Tuvan New Year, which is actually the biggest holiday here. So, the celebrating is not yet over!
