Silly Kids

Today, Nina was saying everyone’s first and middle names…
Nina: “Aria Lee, Nina Esther, Micah David, (pause) Mama Mama, Papa Papa”

When told to finish all the food on her plate at supper time, Aria let out a big sigh and said, “I can’t. My belly is so tired!”

One morning…
Nina excitedly exclaimed, “Mommy, your hair is brown!”
Me: “Yes, you’re right! Good job. And what color is your hair?”
Nina: (pausing to think) “Umm… green!”

The other day, Aria was practicing her counting, “… nine, ten, eleventeen, twelveteen, thirteen,…”

Our Nina is so fascinated with babies. She thinks they are just SO cute! She is even more amazed that she was once in “mommy’s belly” and often likes to talk about that fact.
Nina: “Mommy, can I come back inside your belly?”
Me: (answering rather quickly) “NO! You wouldn’t want to do that.”
Nina: “Mommy, were you once in Papa’s belly?”
Me: “No Nina, mommy was once in Grandma’s belly.”
Nina: “And papa was in Grandpa’s belly?”
Me: (chuckle, chuckle) “No Nina, papa was once in Oma’s belly.”
Nina: “Oh.”

For the last several weeks, Micah has not been taking a morning nap as he seems to be out-growing them. It’s nice, because then he sleeps longer in the afternoon. Yet, sometimes the mornings can get quite long for him, and by lunch time, he is exhausted. I usually quickly feed him and then put him to bed. Today, he was particularly tired at lunch. As I was feeding him some soup, he was just crying and crying. Nina, thinking he was crying because he didn’t like the soup turned to him and said very seriously, “Micah, some people don’t have anything to eat!” (Meaning, stop complaining about your soup, stop crying, and eat!)

After putting the above mentioned exhausted little boy down for his nap, he fell right to sleep. I came back several minutes later to check on him and found him laying on his stomach, face down in his pillow. I quickly snapped this photo before turning him on his side so he could, well, breathe!
