The Year of the Cow (and other stuff)

Each year, a different animal is 'honored', according to the Buddhistic calendar. Well, the year 2009 is the year of the cow! You can find various cow 'things' everywhere... such as cow candles, cow figurines, cow stuffed animals, etc. For New Years, the kids received the above cow backpack filled with candy from one of our neighbors. Someone even told us that on New Years day, no one was supposed to eat any beef during their celebrations, as this was one way they could honor the cow. (Oops, we haven't been very 'cow-honoring' yet this year.)

The other day, I put a blanket on the floor and filled a baking sheet with oatmeal. I then told the girls that this was their indoor sandbox and let them play in it. They had SO much fun, and it kept them occupied for almost 2 hours! Thanks so much for the idea Aunt B, it was great! (We can get a kilo of oatmeal for about 50 cents here! It's not as 'nice' as the oatmeal we are used to, but it's more than wonderful for an indoor sandbox!)

Nothing like a cup of hot chocolate after playing outside in the cold!

Micah likes to get into everything... and that includes the trash can. You would think that we didn't feed him, the way he pulls things out of there and puts them in his mouth! The girls think it is the most hilarious thing, and will just stand there and laugh and laugh at him. Well, I don't find it as humorous. Today, I caught him like this in the kitchen, stuffing apple peels into his mouth. I was just thankful it was something on the more edible side this time. Silly boy.
