Bathroom sinks and other things

David just recently put a sink in our bathroom. Before that, we just used the bathtub to wash our hands and brush our teeth, and that was fine. Yet, we sure are enjoying the blessing of having a bathroom sink! The girls especially enjoy washing their hands now. :)

David had a good time with his English class today. During their discussion time, they explained to David how they make alcohol out of milk (umm... yummy!?!?). Yet mostly, they discussed the recently holiday, "Shagaa". David learned quite a few more interesting things about the holiday, such as why the celebrate it and how. The students told David that the important thing is to not sleep at all that night. The reason for this is because they believe that the god/spirit comes down in the form of a cow (as this is the Buddhistic year of the cow) and goes from house to house. If they see someone sleeping, they assume that the person is dead, and will not give them any luck the coming year. Also, early in the morning of "Shagaa", some of the men will go to a very high place in the mountain (the higher the better). There, they will build a big fire and offer food on it, in order to feed the spirits and please them. The men will also take their coats and hats, and roll them in the snow. They believe that in doing this, their sins from the previous year are being cleansed.
The students just really enjoy talking about their culture and are very open in explaining different things to David (us). We are SO thankful for their help and the insight they give us into their culture... all the while as they practice their English with David. :)

Oh, and guess what?! The kids and I went outside TWICE today! Yes, twice! We went out for about half an hour this morning, as well as this afternoon after my language session. It is definitely getting warmer. I'm not sure, but maybe it was around -20 degrees C today? People told us that it would be really cold around "Shagaa" (which it was!), and then it would start getting warmer. Yeah! Perhaps the really cold winter is now behind us??? The other morning, I told Aria that when it is summer time, she can go outside without a coat, hat, mittens or boots. She got a huge smile on her face and excitedly said, "Oh, that will be so nice"! :)

Oh, and Micah now has 3 (almost 4) teeth!

And we are very thankful, as our future co-workers' application for the temporary residency visa was accepted today! Thanks for thinking about them! It is such a big relief once all that paper work is over and they finally accept your application! Now, we'll just wait for 4-6 months to hear if they will receive the visa (which we are really hoping they will). We are also very excited for our present co-workers, as their passports were stamped with the temporary residency visa today! Yeah!!! :)
