My first Tuvan card
Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of posting recently. Yes, we are all healthy and well. We just have had a busy weekend and past couple of days. (Not to mention that sometimes our internet connection just refuses to work like it should! :D) This past Saturday, some students came over for the evening. As the next day, Sunday, was "Ladies Day" (a very big holiday where all the women are honored), the students gave me a box of chocolates and my first card in Tuvan! It is very special to me. Of course, I don't understand nearly everything it says, but I do recognize the words for 'happiness' and 'health'. I've included the card below, just in case you are interested in getting an idea what the Tuvan language looks like. (You may need to click on it in order to zoom in to get a better look.) I had a fun language session yesterday with my language helper. I had her laughing really hard with some of the things I was saying. (Oh, and I wasn't trying to be funny at all! :D) When she walked out our door, I told her that she probably thinks we'll never learn the Tuvan language. She just laughed! But, we are determined to learn this language... even though it's going to take a LOT of t-i-m-e and effort. :D
