Yeah! David just returned from his trip to the yurt about an hour ago! I must be the most terrible wife there is, because I didn't even hug/kiss him when he walked in the door! In fact, I just smiled at him, welcomed him home, and then walked into the next room. Why? Well, as soon as I opened the door to let him in, the smell of sour milk was just so incredibly strong (and I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to milk products... I know, wierd me), that I just couldn't venture too close to him. I know, terrible wife! Don't worry, he's getting a bath now, and I'll be sure to give him a hug when he's all nice and clean! :)
David filled me in a little on his great time visitting the yurt. Yes, he really enjoyed his time there and said it is just beautiful! The yurt they visitted was located in a valley with lots of sheep, yaks, goats, and horses all around, along with fresh, clean spring water to drink. Just beautiful! The owners of the yurt were very friendly and nice too and they enjoyed spending time with them.
Yes, they had very many interesting things to eat and drink. Tuvans really enjoy milk, actually, it's quite sacred to them. So they have milk products of many different kinds... most of them sour. David really liked their cheese, fresh milk, and sour cream. He said it was just wonderful! He also didn't mind drinking the fermented milk. Yet, it was very difficult for him to get down the glasses of thick chunky sour milk that they would offer him.
They spent the night in the yurt along with their hosts, and then woke-up around five this morning to help let the yaks out to pasture. (David says that they can be pretty aggressive, and you need to watch out for them!) They were able to go fishing, ride horses, play with the little lambs, and help kill, prepare, and eat a sheep. Wow. I'll just say that I'm very proud of my husband. His stomach tends to be on the weaker side, but he did his best and ate as much as he could. Perhaps I'll get some more "sheep" pictures to post later on from the other guys who went, but he ate everything including blood sausage and stomach. (Tuvans pretty much eat the WHOLE sheep, and consider the blood to be the best part!) (He said he had to swallow some things twice, especially the stomach filled with blood, as after swallowing, it would come back up again... yuck.)
Well, my hubby just got out of his bath, and I'm going to get him something to eat... something that his stomache is a little more used to. Oh, and I'll be sure to give him a hug too. :)
