Ice painting

Yesterday, the kids and I talked about how water can be both a liquid and a solid. To emphasize how water can be a solid, we made ice cubes together. But, to make things a little more fun, we colored the water, which we put in the ice cube tray, with food coloring. This morning, we took out our 'solid water', and the kids had fun painting different pictures with the melting ice cubes.

Even our little guy painted a picture. Yet, I think he had more fun tasting the ice than painting with it. :)
Tomorrow, David is planning on going and picking up our co-workers who have been living out in the country close to a yurt this past month. We are so glad that they had the opportunity to do this and to experience and learn more about the Tuvan culture. Yet, we are looking forward to seeing them again and having them back with us! I'm sure they will post all about their experiences this past month, along with lots of great photos on their blog. So feel free to click on the link to their blog "Privyet" on the right.
Also, on Friday, we are looking forward to the arrival of a former co-worker of ours from U-U. As she is our language consultant, she will be evaluating how much we presently know of the language and culture of T-land. We are expecting this to be helpful in knowing how we can better learn in the future. Not only is she our language consultant, she is also a really good friend. It will be so nice seeing you again, Shawna! (Oh, and as she is a certified midwife, we will probably spend time talking about 'babies' too. :D She actually delivered our Nina while we were in U-U.)
