My First Pre-natal

O.k., so I thought it was time that I posted about my first pre-natal on Monday. :)

Overall, the appointment went very well. I ended up being at the doctor's office for over 4 hours! They had lots of tests they wanted to do, and my doctor is a very busy lady, so it just took quite some time! I didn't mind though. It was just so nice to be able to sit and do nothing but look at magazines, etc. A nice 'mommy break'. :)

As far as the doctor could tell via ultra-sound, our twin babies are growing and developing well. :) I just totally enjoyed watching the ultra-sound. There is baby everywhere in there! One baby is head down, and the other baby is head up. So, hopefully they don't kick each other too much in the head! :) They are now putting on weight, which is good. One baby now measured to be weighing over 1,300 grams, and the other one over 1,200 grams. It was just so fun seeing two little heads and all those arms and legs! The doctor did kinda make me a little nervous though, as during the ultra-sound she turned to me and asked if at my ultra-sound in R-land they only found 2 babies. Umm... are you saying there's more than 2 in there??? After a little pause, I asked, "there are just 2 babies in there, right?" And she nodded and said, "well, I just see two heads and two bottoms". Whew.

My doctor was concerned though with the amount of amniotic fluid that I have, or should I say, lack of it. At my ultra sound in R-land, at 21 weeks, I had lots of fluid. But now, for some reason, I have very little. The doctor said that it could be from having had a stressful last week with packing, cleaning, and traveling. So, I have doctor's orders to rest as much as possible this week and to drink plenty of fluids. I will go back next week, and she will measure my fluid level again. We are hoping that it will have increased by then. We'd appreciate your thoughts for that.

Thanks so much for all of your thoughts for our precious twin baby girls! (And yes, Bobbie, they are still girls. :D) We are so thankful for them and so excited to welcome them into our family! We are also very thankful for the privilege we have of being close to the medical care we are used to during these final months of pregnancy. (I left the doctor's office with a lot more vitamins to take!)

Oh, and I think my doctor asked me at least 3 times, "you mean, this is your very first pre-natal of this pregnancy? Are you sure you didn't have any in R-land?" Yep, that's right doctor. Sorry, I know that it's not the wisest thing, but... "And, you guys are planning on returning to R-land with these babies?" Umm... yep, that's right! But we'll first make sure they are all healthy and ready to travel before we go. (insert head shaking from doctor here) I really do think my doctor thinks that we are crazy! (Oh well, she's most likely not the first one to think that!)

Thanks for the update Christy! So good to hear about your prenatal. Will be thinking about you this week that you will have rest and get more of that fluid. (I had a very little amount of it with Hudson in the last couple of months. not sure why that happened.) didn't seem like there was a shortage of it when my water broke though!! :)
So glad you can be there and get all the excellent care (and get caught up on all the news/house and home/ babycare/fashion magazines:)
We miss you!!!
We head out to the yurt again this weekend for a visit with Kongar-ool. Bringing them all some pics of our time and a few groceries.
