The Stomach flu, snow, and exams

We just (hopefully) finished a l-o-n-g week of the stomach flu here at our house.  David and I were up several nights cleaning up after sick kids, Aria missed a day of school and Nina some kindergarten... and I did incredible amounts of laundry this week. But hey, it could have been worse! At least we all weren't sick at the same time.

After having experienced a very mild winter so far, this past week the temperatures have dropped.  We now are "enjoying" minus temperatures (-14 degrees Celsius/the single digits in Fahrenheit).  I know it's nothing compared to what we experienced last winter in T-land... our kids can still go outside and play... but it's still cold!

Oh, and after waiting anxiously the last couple of months, the kids finally got some snow. Yeah, just a little bit of snow, but they were thrilled, none-the-less!

Hanna and Heidi headed right towards the sandbox... and turned around and wanted back inside. They kept saying, "cold, cold".

The older three played outside for several hours with some of their neighbor friends. They LOVED it!

O.k. So what do you do when you need to get some groceries for the week, and your car's parked in the garage and doesn't like starting up in the cold, and you only live a hop, skip and a jump away from a good grocery store???

You bring you groceries home to your front door in your shopping cart!  :)

Nina went grocery shopping with me today, and when she realized that we were actually going to push the cart of groceries home, she laughed SO hard. She thought it was the most hilarious thing ever! (I was secretly thankful that she's still at the age where this is funny and not embarrassing!) We've seen other people do this before, but for some reason, we thought it would be too silly for us to do that! But today, I didn't want to take the car out for a 30 second drive and I wasn't about to carry all those groceries home, so I sucked up my pride and took them home in the cart.  :)

Oh, and that Madelynn... I love her to pieces!!!  She's such a little cuddle-bug and definitely a mommy's girl. :)  She's already saying, "ma-ma-ma-ma" when she wants me! It melts.my.heart!

David had his first exam this past week, and has two more this week (in Chemistry and Economics).  He then has a couple of weeks to study for the next three. I'm SO proud of him!!!  For someone who does not enjoy studying, he is 'going for it'!  (I don't know who gets more nervous for his exams... him or me?!)

'Till next time!  :)
