# 7

Germany has a special practice, in which they invite the 7th child of a family to become the godchild of the country's president.  They do this, mainly to recognize and be an encouragement to those families with lots of children. And, as Timothy John is #7 in our family, he was invited to appear before the city Mayor!

We were not sure what to expect!  The only thing we knew, is that we were to be present at the Mayor's office at 4:00pm on April 3rd.  David was quite nervous. He even went and bought shoe polish in order to clean his shoes! :)  We told the children beforehand that it would most likely be boring for them, and that they would just need to sit and be quiet while we talked with the Mayor.  Well, were they ever thrilled to see a big table loaded with all kinds of cookies, chocolates, and drinks just for them when we walked into the Mayor's office!  David and I were thankful there was something to keep them quiet for a while... although those glass goblets they were drinking out of, sure did make us nervous!!!

We had a wonderful time with the Mayor. What a sweet, humble man!  He was SO nice to our children .  He gave each of them a stuffed animal, except for Aria. She received a lovely memory game of the city where we live.  Not to mention all of the snacks, he even pulled out a little toy car (Bobby car) for the little ones to ride around his office!  That was a hit (until they started fighting over it... insert roll of eyes here).

The Mayor presented us with a certificate from the President, which stated that he was accepting Timothy John as his godchild. He then presented David with a generous monetary gift, and myself with  some beautiful flowers.  He took the time to make us feel recognized and appreciated.  He even posed for a picture with us.

My beautiful flowers... red and white, which are the city's colors.

He let each of the children try on his special "Mayor necklace".

We had a lovely time, and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

The certificate with a picture of the president himself

Timothy with his certificate, as proud as can be.  :)

TJ is too cute! I love that last picture..he looks a lot like Micah.

What a sweet tradition. Is the president a seventh born himself, or does this tradition predate him?

The pics are great and I so enjoy a glimpse into your happenings there. Love you lots!
